Start Date: 06 November 2018
End Date: 07 November 2018
Time: 10:00am - 4.00pm
With: Daniel Hutchings
Join Australian born artist Daniel Hutchings for this two day workshop designed to teach the amazing art of creating beautiful translucent tropical water effects. This is a first for the studio, and I think this will be just what we need as the cold days of winter start to creep in!
During the course of this workshop you will learn how to achieve the effect of clear translucent water with oil paints by applying glazes over an underpainting. Light caustics and surface wave action will be studied as the science behind the art is revealed, and special attention will also be paid to surface reflections of the sky and clouds as the illusion of water depth is created.
Who should attend?
This workshop is intended for students who already have experience with oils, but wish to push the boundaries, and try this unique, yet traditional style of painting! Daniel will provide regular demonstrations, plus one-to-one instruction.
What to bring?
Oil Paints: bring whatever brand you have – you will need a basic palette, consisting of the following:
Supports: Bring whatever you usually work on i.e. stretched canvas, canvas board, primed MDF etc. (not too small)
Note: The studio will supply easels & drawing boards
Tea, coffee & biscuits supplied, but please bring a packed lunch
